Moosejaw Prioritizes Comfort in Camping Gear

Jul 20, 2023

The Comfort Camp Collection caters to car campers and anyone who prefers a little extra room and cushion in their outdoor gear.

Car campers rejoice: The Moosejaw Comfort Camp Collection includes oversized bags, tents, chairs, and other outdoor accessories to help make your time outside feel a bit more like home.

Beyond the focus on roomy, cozy designs, the collection uses recycled materials in many of its products.

Below, we’ve highlighted a few gear pieces in the collection. But you can check out the full lineup of camping gear (including coolers) to find fits for your summer adventures.

Adding luxuries like chairs and tables to your packing list can make your time outdoors more enjoyable.

Whether you’re car camping or grilling in the park, you’re not as worried about weight and don't need specialized gear that packs down for backpacking. And sometimes, adding an inch here and an ounce there can add to your comfort.

The items below are oversized versions of car camping essentials.

Set the foundation for a picnic or afternoon nap with this double-sided camp blanket. The bottom is made from water-resistant ripstop polyester made to resist abrasion and ward off dampness and dirt. The top has brushed fleece for a softer feel against your skin, and it won't pill after washes.

The Carpet Diem measures 72 x 57 inches but rolls down to roughly 15 x 7 inches with webbing straps that have a carry handle. It's made from 100% recycled polyester, according to Moosejaw.

Moosejaw's Ginormo XL pad measures 78 x 30 inches to fit a variety of shapes and sizes. It's designed to offer a puncture-resistant shell (made from recycled polyester) with a water-resistant treatment to keep dew and perspiration from seeping in.

The pad has wide-welded seams to hold up use longer as well as a soft foam core to cut weight and bulk, according to the brand. Additionally, the pad has a self-inflating and free-flow valve for easier inflation and deflation.

For warmth and comfort, the pad rests 2.5 inches off the ground. It boasts a 5.9 R-value, which is warm enough to consider for four-season camping.

It can snap together with another pad for use with double sleeping bags, like the Double Snoozilla XL below.

The numbers tell the story of the Comfster XXL Cot. According to the brand, its steel frame can support up to 500 pounds, It measures 85 x 38 inches — dimensions compatible with the Ginormo 2.5 XL sleeping pad above.

It weighs 36 pounds and comes with a carry bag for hauling in and out of camp.

Larger than a queen-size mattress, this oversized double sleeping bag comes with a 30-degree Fahrenheit temperature rating for chilly nights. An insulated draft tube and collar also help trap body heat and prevent drafts. Double-sided, wraparound zippers let you peel it open for easier entry or remove the top layer for use as a quilt.

Inside, an accessory pocket can hold your cellphone or snacks within reach.

The Double Snoozilla XL bag weighs just over 9 pounds and measures 88 x 66 inches. The ripstop shell, liner, and fill are all made from 100% recycled polyester, according to the brand.

If you roll over in your sleep, you may find 88 x 36-inch dimensions of the Snoozilla XL less constricting than other bags, the brand says.

It's the single version of the Double Snoozilla XL above, which means it has all the same features, just in a smaller package. It's rated for 30-degree F nights; in warmer temps, the 18-inch zipper lets you fold down the top layer like a comforter.

Inside, there's a stash pocket for phones, snacks, or other accessories.

The Snoozilla XL bag weighs 5 pounds and measures 88 x 36 inches. The ripstop shell, liner, and fill are all made from 100% recycled polyester, according to the brand.

This camp chair comes with a stowable side table to hold a meal, fishing clamps, or anything besides a drink. That's because drinks go in the adjustable drink sleeve on the other side.

When it's time to relax, the chair reclines up to 55 degrees back, with a padded seat and adjustable head pillow adding to its plushness. Its steel frame can hold up to 350 pounds and when folded down, it can be carried over your shoulder with a padded strap.

Lastly, there's a slip pocket under the seat for discreetly hiding a phone or other valuables.

Outside, tables often serve as a space to prep meals, play games, and keep drinks off the ground. This roll-top design is packable, but its height is also adjustable (25.5 to 34 inches) to match the height of your chairs or other tables.

The Eatastic measures 48 × 27.3 inches to make room for up to four people and can hold up to 110 pounds, according to the brand.

Moosejaw built the four-person Comfortress tent with steep walls and a ceiling height of 6 feet in the center. There's 64 square feet of space inside — enough to fit two Moosejaw Comfster XXL cots or a queen-size air mattress.

The vestibule is roomy, too, with 43 square feet, two entrances, and a window to let in light and offer views while sheltered. According to the brand, the rainfly has a 1,500mm waterproof-rated coating, and the floor is made from 150-denier fabric.

Multiple storage pockets line the walls for storing items off the floor.

Lastly, the poles are color-coded to help two people set it up in 10 minutes.

This tent's ceiling peaks at 6 feet, and there are 116 square feet of space underneath. As an eight-person tent, it can also be divided into two rooms. The vestibule adds another 51 square feet of room and has two entrances and a window. Furthermore, there's a full-size rear door as another point of entry.

Moosejaw went with color-coded poles for a more intuitive two-person setup. The brand says it takes 10 minutes to get the tent up and operational.
